Preparing for Your Driving Test Appointment

Many people take their driving test without really being prepared. Either they don’t get enough practice, or they haven’t practiced the right way. Other people get very nervous because they don’t know what to expect on the test. Call us—we can help you. Our premier driving school makes sure you are all set to pass the driving test.

We want you to qualify for your license by satisfactorily completing your road test. Our driving lessons are designed to help you develop the driving skills you will need to demonstrate and prevent you from experiencing any test-day jitters. The more you practice with us, the readier you will be to pass your road test.

In general, the DMV recommends that you get at least 30 hours of practice, with at least 10 hours in moderate to heavy traffic. Our instructors will not just take you for a ride; they will give you road test tips that will give you the self-assurance to pass your test. Participation in our program gives you increased familiarity behind the wheel of an automobile, improved awareness of traffic laws and different traffic conditions, enhanced skill with handling a vehicle, and overall boosted confidence to pass your road test with flying colors. Too many people have to take and retake the driving test again and again because they simply aren’t ready. As our student, though, you’ll have the tools at your disposal to achieve your goal.

Once you complete our program, you will be a more confident and capable driver. You will also have the mandatory Form MV278 that you receive upon completing our 5-hour class, as well as access to a vehicle to use during your test.

What to Bring to the Road Test:

Teens Studying for Their Test

Our program will fully instruct you on what to expect the day of your test. For general reference purposes, though, the below list includes the items that the DMV will ask you to present:

  • Your Photo Learner's Permit and your 5-hour class certificate (MV278)
  • If you are 16 or 17 years old and possess a blue card, bring it for the examiner with your 50 hour Supervised Driving Certification Form (MV262).
  • Bring a vehicle to drive during the test.  The vehicle must be properly registered, inspected, insured and must be in good working order.  Motorcycle applications must bring an additional vehicle and driver to transport the license examiner during the test.
  • At the time of the driving test, all front seat belts must be in working order.  The passenger side belt, for the examiner's use, must be readily available.
  • Bring a person at least 18 years of age who holds a license valid for operating the test vehicle, not you the student.

Make Sure You Arrive for Your Test on Time

If you are not at the test site at least 30 minutes before the appointment time, you may have to make a new road test appointment. If you know ahead of time that you won't be able to keep your road test appointment, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the time of the test. Otherwise, you may have to pay the DMV a rescheduling fee.
